Copying Photos for Social Media
The fastest path to posting
A common LunaFinder workflow:
- Find the photo (browse, tag filter, or AI Search).
- Preview it (Space) if you need to check quality.
- Copy the image.
- Paste into Instagram, X, Facebook, Messages, email, Notion, or any app that accepts images from the clipboard.
This avoids exporting duplicates or digging through Finder for the right file.
Copy image content
Keyboard
- Select the photo (or focus the photo viewer with that image).
- Press ⌘ C.
Context menu
Right-click the file → Copy Image.
From the photo viewer
Open the viewer with Space, then press ⌘ C there.
What gets copied
LunaFinder copies the actual image content (what you would paste as a picture)—not just the file name.
A short notification may confirm: Image content copied to clipboard.
Paste into another app
Switch to your target app and press ⌘ V (or use that app’s Paste command). Most social and design apps accept pasted images directly.
Copy image path (different action)
Right-click → Copy Image Path copies the text path to the file on disk—not the picture itself. Use this when you need to reference the location in a note or script, not for posting the image.
Tips for content creators
- Tag batches with keywords like
ready-to-postand filter by that tag before a copy session. - Use arrow keys to move through a shortlist quickly after opening the viewer.
- Combine with AI Search when you remember the scene but not the filename.
