Color Picker Tool

What the color picker is for

The Color Picker is a separate window that lets you:

  • Sample colors directly from a photo
  • Build a palette of picked colors
  • See dominant colors by frequency in the image
  • Copy HEX codes (for example #3A7BD5) for use in design tools, brand guides, or social templates

Open the color picker

  1. Select one image in the main grid.
  2. Right-clickOpen Color Picker.

Only a single image can be used at a time.

Main controls

Pick color mode

Click Pick color, then click on the image where you want to sample. A magnifier helps you choose the exact pixel.

Picked colors

Colors you sample appear under Picked colors. Click a swatch to copy its HEX value to the clipboard—you may see a confirmation toast.

Detected colors by frequency

LunaFinder can analyze the image and show common colors ranked by how often they appear—useful for mood boards or matching brand palettes.

Advanced threshold (optional)

Click the gear icon to show Color Computation Threshold. Adjusting the slider changes how aggressively similar pixels are grouped when detecting frequent colors. Higher values tend to merge more similar shades.

Closing the window

Press Esc or close the window when finished.

If something goes wrong

You may see messages such as Failed to load image or prompts to click directly on the image area when pick mode is active. Make sure the photo file is readable and the drive is connected.
