Detailed guides for every LunaFinder feature: search, tagging, browsing, storage, and more.

Adding and Removing Keywords

Select one image

  1. Click a single photo in the grid.
  2. Make sure the right panel is on the Properties tab.
  3. Scroll to the Keywords section if needed.

If nothing is selected, the panel asks you to select an image to view and edit metadata.

Add a keyword

  1. Click in the field labeled Add keyword…
  2. Type a word or short phrase (avoid very long sentences; one concept per keyword works best).
  3. Press Enter or click the plus button.

The keyword appears as a tag chip below the input. It is saved immediately for that photo.

Remove a keyword

Click the × on the keyword chip you want to remove. The keyword is removed from that photo only.

Tips for good keywords

  • Use consistent spelling (travel not both travel and travels unless you mean different things).
  • Prefer project or platform tags: client-smith, posted-2024, hero-shot.
  • Combine with AI Search when you have not tagged older photos yet.

Viewing embedded file metadata

Below Keywords, you may see sections such as Basic, Creator, Location, and Technical information. These come from the image file and are for viewing only in LunaFinder—you cannot edit them here.

File Properties window

For a quick summary including keywords already on the file, select one image and press ⌘ I (or right-click Show Properties). A window shows filename, path, dimensions, size, and a list of keywords if any exist.
